Sometimes here at MatterHackers we get a little bored printing with plastics. Thanks to ColorFabb's bronzeFill, we can shake things up a bit by printing with actual bronze! At first, the bronzeFill appears to be laser sintered with a matte finish - fear not, for a little sanding and polishing allows the infused bronze particles to sparkle unlike any filament that you have seen before!
Another great characteristic of bronzeFill is its weight - it's about three times heavier than standard PLA, which really adds to the authenticity of your prints. This is ideal if you are printing items like jewelry or other artistic pieces.
We reccomend using our E3D All-Metal HotEnds to print bronzeFill.
Before and After Polishing
During production, ColorFabb bronzeFill uses laser measurment systems to confirm that the diameter of the filament is consistant - this guarantees that your printer is extruding the exact amount of filament that is should be.
Is that an ancient artifact, or did you just print that?
Tips and Tricks for printing bronzeFill:
- Print Temp: 195-220C
- Print Speed: 40 - 100 mm/s
- Bed Adhesion: use blue painter's tape with no heat, or bare glass @ 50-60C
- Increased Flow Rate works best
- Start sanding with 120-180 grit when polishing, and work your way up to 240-320 grit, then finish with 600 grit
- It is easy to sand, so be careful when polishing intricate details
- Once sanded, clean with a soft cloth and copper polish to get the best amount of shine

im thinking of printing something that makes contact a lot how is the impact resistance on a fully finished print?
The finishes in all the sample sculptures above are different . Is this due to printing temperature , or due to sanding and polishing techniques used ? My favorite is the ring . What's the finish technique used ?

Does this filament feel like metal? A client asked me to 3D print a pediment and the sample they gave me was 3D printed and it feels like metal.
I am running a Prusa i3 MK3. I am trying to print some rings with my nozzle set to 220c and heat bed at 60c and speed set to 60%. The settings for the ring are extra detailed with 30% fill and supports from heatbed only. I notice that the material comes off the heat bed very easily and clumps on the nozzle. Ive never run into this type of issue for normal types of PETG or PLA. Is there something special I need to do for this material to print successfully?

I have the Raise3d Pro2 Plus and cannot run this material. I tried 200C at 50mm, 205C, 210C, 215C. and tried 60mm and 75mm and could not get a print. I clogged the nozzle and the upper extruder numerous times. I am using a hardened nozzle. I would think it would need a low temp. since it is metal and the heat transfers through the filament where the extruder gear is and would soften the filament and cause slipping. Everthing I've tried has not worked. Perhaps this spool is defective and I need a refund.
Hey Alex C.,
If you could drop us an Email at Support@matterhackers.com we can look into some possibilities with you. Being that the Pro 2 is a new machine and they do not yet have profiles for a number of different filaments we will need to look into settings first.
Thanks!
Has there been any progress with this bronze material on Raise3d pro2 plus? I am very interested in this material but not if Alex C is still struggling with it?
To my knowledge, there is not an issue with running this material on the Pro2.
