FAQ
How much space do I need for installation?
Please see the diagram below:
What are the primary differences between the A2L and the A1 series? Is it just a larger version of the A1?
Beyond a 105% increase in build volume (reaching 330mm x 320mm x 325 mm), the A2L features breakthroughs in core hardware and algorithms:
- Extrusion System Upgrade: The new closed-loop servo extruder, powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), provides stable power output during high-speed printing. It also supports active monitoring of extrusion anomalies.
- Adaptive Vibration Compensation: This model introduces an adaptive algorithm featuring multi-point calibration and load adaptation, which significantly reduces ghosting and ringing, especially on large or tall prints.
- Physical Resonance Suppression: Two granular dampers are integrated into the frame to absorb physical resonance, further improving surface quality.
- Multi-functional Creativity: A newly designed modular mounting point allows for the installation of a blade-cutting module, enabling 2D creative projects.
- More Reliable Nozzle Clumping Detection: A new nozzle clumping detection switch has been added. This dedicated hardware performs detection through physical contact, making it more stable and reliable.
Why doesn't the A2L feature dual-nozzle or multi-toolhead technology?
The A2L is designed to deliver an ultra-pure, straightforward, and user-friendly large-format 3D printing experience. As a result, key performance aspects, including build volume, surface quality, and reliability, have been optimized. For users looking for advanced dual-nozzle functionality, the X2D serves as a valuable alternative.
How is the noise level during normal 3D printing?
The A2L operates quietly, achieving noise levels below 49 dB in Silent Mode, similar to the sound of a quiet library whisper. In Standard Mode, the peak noise reaches approximately 52 dB.
Why is the maximum bed temperature lower than that of A1?
The A2L is an open-frame 3D printer specifically designed for non-engineering filaments such as PLA and PETG, which require lower bed temperatures. Due to its larger surface area, maintaining high temperatures would use excessive power. To avoid overloading home electrical circuits, the maximum temperature is set to 80 °C. This approach effectively supports mainstream filaments while also ensuring reasonable energy consumption.
What intelligent detection features does the A2L include?
The A2L features a closed-loop servo extruder for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) and incorporates a physical "blob" detector to identify nozzle clumping. This enhances precision in extrusion monitoring and offers reliable protection against filament buildup. Furthermore, it retains the renowned detection suite from the A1 series, which includes Filament Run-out, Nozzle Clogging (Air Printing), and Tangled Spool detection.
How many AMS units can be connected to the A2L?
The A2L is highly expandable and can support up to four box-style AMS units and one AMS Lite connected in series, allowing for the capability of up to 19-color printing. Please note that connecting a box-style AMS unit will use one buffer path, which will make one AMS Lite slot unavailable.
Does using the AMS drying function on the A2L require an external power supply?
Yes. The AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT drying functions depend on an external independent power source, connected via a power cable or supply, due to the power distribution logic of the A2L.
Does the A2L support laser or blade-cutting modules?
For safety reasons, due to its open-frame design, the A2L does not support laser modules. However, the modular mounting point accommodates a blade-cutting module for precision cutting and pen-plotting functions.
Is the blade-cutting functionality on the A2L identical to the H2 series?
The A2L model does not include a BirdsEye camera, which means it cannot perform the fully automatic Live Spatial Alignment available in the H2 series Laser versions. However, users can utilize Bambu Handy with their smartphone camera to assist with alignment through photo assistance. Additionally, the "Print-then-Cut" feature is currently in development and may be released in a future over-the-air (OTA) firmware update.
