ColorFabb ColorFabb varioShore Prosthetic TPU Filament - 1.75mm (2kg) Dark Brown
This revolutionary new material from Colorfabb allows users to vary the density of printed parts by adjusting temperature and material throughput - At temperatures between 200°C and 250°C the material will start to expand to roughly 1.4 - 1.6 times its original volume. When printed at low flow rates (60-70%) the active foaming properties will cause parts to expand, resulting in very soft printed parts. At temperatures between 190°C and 200°C the material can be printed without foaming, which results in harder prints when compared to those that utilized Varioshore's active foaming properties.
The base TPU is 92A, which will work with most standard extruder set-ups.

Unique Properties for Printing Prosthetics and Orthotics
This version of varioShore TPU is specially designed for printing prosthetic and orthotic parts. ColorFabb has included silver in our formulation, known for its beneficial properties in these applications.
- Silver inclusion for enhanced properties in prosthetic and orthotic applications
- Available in three skintone colors: Pale Pink, Medium Brown, Dark Brown
- Printing at lower temperatures results in more intense skintone colors
- Printing at higher temperatures activates the foaming agent, resulting in a softer, less intense powder-like skintone color
Variable Shore Hardness for Adjustable Density
VarioShore TPU Prosthetic has several distinctive features, including variable shore hardness, reduced weight and density, and a soft touch. Users can adjust the density of the material by changing the temperature and material throughput, allowing for a wide range of printing options. At temperatures between 200 and 250C the materials will start to expand to roughly 1.4-1.6 times its original volume, which reduces the density to 0.7 to 0.9 g/cm³. This means the material can be printed at low flow rates (60-70%), to compensate for the active foaming, which in return gives very soft printed parts.
- Reduced weight and density
- Soft touch
- Printing at Temperatures between 200 and 250C expands the material to reduce density
FLEXIBLE TO THE TOUCH AND FLEXIBLE IN ITS APPLICATION
Although not quite as lightweight as LW-PLA, ColorFabb varioShore TPU provides users with noticeable weight and density reduction where it matters and the flexibility to use the material in a wide range of other applications. This material is well suited for producing soft sporting goods such as bicycle handlebars or for applications in footwear such as shoe insoles.
The base TPU is 92A, which will work with most standard extruder set-ups for Bowden and direct drive systems.
By adjusting material flow rates, ColorFabb varioShore enables users to significantly reduces the weight and density of printed parts.
HOW TO SUCCEED WHEN PRINTING WITH VARIOSHORE TPU
The following settings are recommended for successfully printing with this material:
Print Temperature:
- 190°-250°C
Print Speed:
- 20-30mm/s
Print Bed Temperature:
- 20°-40°C
Cooling Fan:
- Users are advised to use the least amount of cooling possible when maximum foaming is desired. For better overhang performance use 50-100% speed when cooling. Additionally, it is advised to make sure the distance between the nozzle and print surface is not too small, especially if the material is foaming while printing - pressure will need to be released from the hot end to prevent clogging and material feeding issues.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Spool Size: 0.70kg
- Diameter tolerance: ± 0.1 mm
- Density: 1.2-1.3g/cm-3
Questions
How well would this work for paintable Miniatures for D&D or models for Wargamming such as warhammer?
Do you have these in stock or they're drop shipped from China? What's the shipping speed?
What is the tank resin capacity?
Does SLA need support structures for overhangs and such

Vat is sliding and tipping, how do can I fix this?
With the resin liquid, how toxic is this to use ? If unused resin is left in the tray, can it be returned to the bottle, or this that not recommended. If I want a different color resin from one print to the next, should I let the remaining resin cure and harden? How strong are these prints in comparison with a PLA print? Would they be functional, say as a small plant holder for a cactus as an example. Are gloves needed to use the resin? Interesting technology but is it worth all the trouble? Much more waste, and danger that a regular PLA filament printer. Resin colors are much more limited than PLA.
I want a resin printer but the lcd screens seem to burn out kinda quick how long does the laser module last on average?
How do you calibrate the Moai? my prints are coming off not level like if a cake was sliding off a table.
I want to use a Matter and Form , model mfs1v1 scanner. What software and or anything will I need to get it work with your Moai printers
Will my new Moai work properly in a cold environment? I'm thinking of putting it up in a log cabin in the garden where the temperature could drop down to 41 degrees
I assume you can put together the package deal with the UV light, warmer, tray, base etc? I find it hard to believe that this is in stock but the kit wouldn"t be...
can you make something like a drone or a tattoo machine with this? Or maybe sport-rockets and engines? watch casings for digital watches?
Moai states that the printer comes with a free kg of resin, I only received the resin I paid for with my order. Does the Free resin ship separate? Can we choose the color?
All of the informational videos I have seen on the Peopoly Moai include a rotary encoder dial and a display to aid in printing and calibration. I don't see those features pictured in the photos of any of the Peopoly products. I am interested in purchasing the kit version (MP86LX2U). If it does not include the display how is the calibration procedure accomplished, and is it possible to upgrade to the model with the display?
What material is the build plate made of?
Print speed, How many mm per hour
Hi, can I print an articulated object (with many joints for many body parts) as one piece with Moai 3D printer. For instance, an articulated object like this one: https://www.seas.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/images/oldsite/8.jpg Can I print that object as one stl piece with Moai 3D printer and expect all joints can be moveable afterward? Or should I print each object part one by one and assemble them all later?
Hi, does the Formlabs resins works with this SLA 3D printer? If yes, how can that be done?
I have been considering this printer and trolling here for some time now. There have been changes to the original kit. Is it now shipping with the PDMS vat or the FEP vat? With the original build plate or the easy level build plate? Pleas let me know the options if there are any.
What slicer software solution would you suggest for mac OS users?
Hi, I am very impressed with your site and with this printer. BUT I am cracking my head to find a 3D printer that works with a 385 nm laser (not 405 nm as most do). I need to use some custom resins that do not absorb at 405. SO here is the question: since this printer comes disassembled, do you know if one can buy and mount a different laser for it? Thank you really!
When will you have the updated version with the FEP film based tank for sale?
hi you suggest to use MYUS for shipping.....Thank you But i have UPS account with my company So UPS would be ok for you ??? thank you Best regards
HI is it possible for you to ship in France ? zip 13006 And what would be the cost of shipping? Do you have a 220V model ? Best regards Thank you
Is there a difference in different color resin, (print time, finish quality, paintability, durability etc).
How does the speed of printing compare to an Anycubic Photon? Also, as far as working parts, ie gears (planning on making clock gears) how does it compare to Anycunic prints?
Why is the Peopoly Moai not available for sale on Amazon?
I noticed the bed and resin tank upgrades available here on the website. Have these upgrades been included in new kits?
In the video, the gentleman says this is meant to be an introduction to SLA printing. Does this mean it can't be used in a professional setting or how are other printers better? How quickly must the resin be used before it expires or looses significant quality? Hours? Days?
When will you have the Moai upgrades that currently show on the Peopoly site - specifically the Moai printer with the FEP vat and the modified build plate?
What is the max environmental temperature you can reasonably use this in? I want to set up in my garage so there is no odor in the house.
Hi @Doug!
We do not have specific data for this.
It may actually improve the print quality--the garage could effectively be a resin chamber heater! But it shouldn't have an effect on the hardware, if it cools at night.
