Liqcreate Flame Retardant HDT Resin Processing Instructions
-
Caution: Strong Adhesion to Platform – Raft Settings
- Liqcreate Flame Retardant HDT resin strongly adheres to metal build plates. To ensure easy removal of the raft from the platform, adjust the support settings for this resin. It's recommended to remove the part from the supports while it's still on the platform to prevent breakage. Avoid printing parts directly on the platform, as the first layers may break upon removal.
-
Shake Before Use
- Prior to printing, shake Liqcreate Flame Retardant HDT for a few minutes, especially after extended storage, to achieve a uniform mixture. Let the resin rest for a few minutes after shaking to allow air bubbles to settle. Printing immediately after shaking may result in air bubbles in the first layers.
-
3D-Printing Parameters
- Liqcreate Flame Retardant HDT is designed for compatibility with 405nm and 385nm DLP, MSLA, LCD, and laser-based resin 3D printers. Ensure that your 3D printer is open for 3rd party resins and that parameters can be adjusted. Refer to available parameters for your specific printer, and if they are not available, contact our technical team at info@liqcreate.com for assistance.
-
Support Settings
- Adjust support settings to accommodate the strong adhesion of Flame Retardant HDT resin to metal build plates. Remove the part from the supports while it's still on the platform to avoid damage. It is not advisable to print parts directly on the platform, as this may result in the first layers breaking upon removal. Support settings vary based on the resin type, printer, release mechanism, bottom material of the resin tank, and other secondary settings. Settings are available for some generic printers, but individual adjustments may be necessary.
-
Cleaning, Washing, and Post-Curing Your Part
- Clean your 3D-printed parts by washing them in IPA, ethanol, or Liqcreate resin cleaner. It's recommended to use a separate cleaning bucket for Flame Retardant HDT printed parts to prevent settling of resin components on other resin parts. Follow the cleaning instructions for your chosen cleaning solvent. For IPA and ethanol, use a separate bucket in an ultrasonic cleaner or a cleaner with agitation. After washing, inspect and ensure the part is dry and free from solvent. If necessary, use a soft brush to clean small cavities and rinse in fresh solvent. Post-cure parts for 60 minutes at 60°C for high HDT (HDT-B of 237°C / 459°F) or 120 minutes at 60°C for extreme temperature resistance (HDT-B of 257°C / 495°F).
-
Discoloration of Parts After Curing or Extended UV-Aging
- Post-cured Flame Retardant HDT parts may appear off-white, which is normal and differs from their initial white appearance. This change in color is expected.
-
How to Clean / Filter the Resin
- To prevent damage to your printer components, filter the resin if cured resin parts are present. Use a standard resin filter to remove rigid plastic pieces from the resin.
-
Minimum Wall Thickness
- The recommended minimum wall thickness for Liqcreate Flame Retardant HDT is 2mm, but finer details can be printed in local areas. Larger thin walls may require extra support structures.
-
Part Orientation and Overhang
- Avoid printing large and relatively flat parts on supports. Printing at an angle yields better quality. Part orientation can affect print quality significantly.
-
Part Surface Finish or Sticky Surface
- Printed parts from Liqcreate Flame Retardant HDT are initially opaque and shiny. After washing and drying, they will appear matte or dull. You can polish or coat the parts to achieve a glossy surface finish. In some cases, crevices and sharp corners may exhibit a white deposition after washing; replacing the cleaning solvent or washing with a soft brush can help remove this deposition.
-
Resin Temperature
- It is advised to print with Liqcreate Flame Retardant HDT resin at 20°C / 68°F and a maximum of 25°C / 77°F. Printing at lower temperatures can lead to random material failure, while excessive heating can accelerate resin de-mixing and is not recommended.
-
Storage Conditions
- Store the product in its original bottle, plug, and cap at a minimum of 5°C / 41°F and a maximum of 30°C / 86°F. Avoid exposure to sources of heat, radiation, static electricity, sunlight, and contact with food.
