Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

What are the 3 power levels? What is the temperature range of the PolyDryer™?

  • Level 1: Temperature at the Dry Dock air outlet is ~50°C
  • Level 2: Temperature at the Dry Dock air outlet is ~60°C
  • Level 3: Temperature at the Dry Dock air outlet is ~70°C
  • Internal Temperature Range: 68-73°C

What setting should I use?

  • The sticker on the dry dock lists all suitable power levels for the most common materials. Generally, higher power levels and longer drying times yield better drying results. Ensure best settings by referring to the softening temperature of the specific filament in use.

What spools can fit in the PolyDryer™?

  • The maximum capacity is 205 Φ mm x 78 (H) mm. All spools 1 kg or less from PolyMaker can fit and most 1 kg spools or less from other brands can fit. Utilize the internal spool roller for smaller spools.

How long can materials stay dry in the PolyDryer™ Box?

  • Designed for superior sealing and equipped with high-quality silica gel desiccant, the PolyDryer™ Box ensures extended filament freshness during storage. In testing at 20 °C and 60% RH, humidity levels inside the box changed by less than 5% over 30 days, approximately 1.5× better sealing performance than standard DIY storage boxes.

Can I print and dry at the same time?

  • Yes, the PolyDryer™ Box has a continuous drying mode for drying while printing, or materials can also be pre-dried before printing.

What color should my desiccants be?

  • Dry: Orange
  • Wet: Dark Green

How do I dry the desiccants?

When most of the desiccants have changed from orange to dark green, use one of the following procedures that is appropriate for your setup and workflow:

  1. Place the PolyDryer™ Box without any filament on the Dry Dock and use power level 3 for ~8 hours until it has turned back to orange. The desiccant should be placed in the same orientation as the screen on the Dry Dock.
  2. Remove the silica gel desiccant from the PolyDryer™ Box (without including additional parts) and place it in a heat-resistant container. Use an oven to heat at 100-120°C for 1-2 hours until the desiccant turns orange.
  3. Remove the silica gel desiccant from the PolyDryer™ Box (without including additional parts) and place it in a heat-resistant container. Use a microwave, set on a low power level, heat for 30 seconds, then flip, and heat for another 30 seconds until it turns orange.

What is a good humidity range to see on the hygrometer?

After drying, a hygrometer reading between 10-30% RH indicates optimal conditions. Based on tests at 20°C and 60% RH:

  • Level 1: 20-30% RH
  • Level 2: 15-25% RH
  • Level 3: 10-20% RH
