BCN3D has made their mark on the additive manufacturing space with the introduction of IDEX 3D printing, and once again improved and expanded their offerings with the massive Epsilon. The Epsilon is designed to build upon the IDEX system, to handle the high-temperature materials needed by engineers, and to enable users to print it big, in both part quantity with batch printing or in size.

Let's break it down-

Enclosed and Passively Heated Chamber

Unlike other industrial 3D printers that don’t have an enclosure or feature it as an additional accessory, the BCN3D Epsilon is built with it integrated into every printer. Should the user open the door while a print is running, a safety pause will initiate and stop all the moving parts. A silicone thermal pad heats the bed to a maximum temperature of 120°C, passively heating the build chamber to a maximum of 60°C, keeping your high temperature parts accurate and enabling you to confidently print ABS, ASA, or BASFs formulated filaments as large or as fine as you want without warping or delamination. To mitigate the possibility of any harmful particles affecting the user, the Epsilon even features a HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter to capture them and clean the air of the build chamber.

High-temperature materials like to be surrounded by warm air and to avoid drafts. The fully enclosed Epsilon keeps the interior at a great temperature for success.

Build Volume

The Epsilon is huge. With a build plate 430mm wide and 300mm deep, you can print massive prototypes or huge batches of your smaller printed parts. At 400mm tall, this is the tallest 3D printer BCN3D has created, enabling you to iterate and 3D print all your designs without worrying about their size. To ensure that the first layer of the 3D prints adequately adhere to the build plate, the Epsilon features assisted bed leveling wizards to guide you through the process of achieving true level and a uniformly flat build surface.

IDEX

With the technology pioneered by BCN3D, the Epsilon features dual-IDEX print heads. Both print heads ride on the same linear rail X-axis crossbar, but each utilize their own X motor for independent motion. By using two separate print heads, dual extrusion prints aren’t cross contaminated as the unused nozzle oozes, instead a purge bucket and wiping pad capture any oozed filament and keep them out of the way of your pristine prints. Not only does IDEX keep prints clean, it also means you can utilize a duplication or mirror mode, 3D printing the same (or mirrored) object using both print heads at the same time, effectively giving you two 3D printers in the same footprint. Included with the Epsilon are two 0.4mm brass nozzles, with a plethora of additional hotends available in the Hotend Family with different sized nozzles, including the Hotend X incorporating Nozzle X from E3D, a nozzle made of a special tool steel alloy with an ultra non-stick coating.

Like every other BCN3D 3D printer recently developed, the Epsilon's IDEX printheads speed up production time and keep dual extrusion prints blemish-free.
