Setting Up Your Pulse Dual Extrusion 3D Printer for Success
Unboxing, setting up, and connecting your Pulse Dual Extrusion 3D Printer to MatterControl has never been easier with this guide.
Going from unboxing to printing with your Pulse Dual Extrusion 3D Printer is an easy and intuitive process. Get started on your way into the 3D printing community with some handy guides we've put together for your convenience.
Hardware Setup
Step 1 - Unboxing
- Remove printer, LCD, spool holder, and accessories from the packaging.
- Visually inspect for any damage that may have occurred in shipping.
- If damaged has occurred, give us a call at (949) 613-5838 or email us at support@matterhackers.com and we'll work with you to resolve the issue.
Step 2 - Remove RED Zip Ties
- Cut and remove RED zip ties. These help protect your printer during shipping.
- DO NOT cut or remove any BLACK zip ties; they are used for wire management and are meant to remain in place.
Step 3 - Insert Bowden Tubes
- Facing the BondTech Extruders on the back of the Pulse, insert a bowden tube into each extruder as shown. (A)
- Make sure you hear a small click to ensure the bowden tube has inserted all the way in. Note that removing the black bowden clip before inserting the bowden tube is not necessary.
- On the front of the Pulse, insert the other end of each bowden tube into each V6 hotend. (B)
- Make sure you hear a small click to ensure the bowden tube has inserted all the way in. Note that removing the blue bowden clip before inserting the bowden tube is not necessary.
- BondTech Extruder labeled 1 should have its bowden tube inserted into the hotend furthest from it (left hotend when facing the front of the Pulse). BondTech Extruder labeled 2 should have its bowden tube inserted into the hotend closest to it (right hotend when facing the front).
Step 4 - Mount Screen
- Slide the screen into place as shown. (A)
Step 5 - Assemble and Mount Spool Holder
- Insert the two arms into the body of spool holder as shown. (A)
- Use the two small screws and hex key provided to secure the arms onto the body. (B)
- Locate the spool holder mount as shown. (C)
- Mount spool holder onto Pulse using the two longer screws provided. (D)
- The spool holder mount is adjustable to make attaching easier. After connecting the spool holder onto the mount with the screws, make sure to move the spool holder right against the back plate of the printer as shown in (D) before fully tightening down the screws.
- You will want the spool holder to attach right against the back plate to ensure there's plenty of space to hold a spool of filament on either arm of the spool holder.
Step 6 - Attach and Connect the Power Supply to Pulse
- Turn your Pulse around so the black dovetails in the back are facing you.
- Attach the power supply by sliding it down onto the dovetails, just like you did for the Viki LCD screen. (A)
- Connect the power supply to your Pulse. (B)
- Plug the power cord into the power supply and connect it to a wall outlet. (C)
- Turn the power switch on. (D)
Step 7 - Plug USB Cable Into Pulse
- Locate the USB input on the back of your Pulse Dual Extrusion 3D printer and plug the USB cable in. (A)
- DO NOT plug the USB cable into your computer yet. Doing so may cause difficulties with the initial connection setup.
Step 8 - Clear the Bed
- Every Pulse 3D printer is tested before it is shipped out. Remove the test print from the bed. (B)
That wraps up the unboxing of your Pulse Dual Extrusion 3D Printer. From here, you are ready to setup and connect your Pulse to MatterControl.
